This is why Arab traveler Ibn Battuta described it as a verse in the charming natural beauty and that it is one of the wonders of the world. It is decorated with different types of flowers and fruit trees. The sprawling seas around it are full of beautiful, small and large fish. The silver sands that cover all its beaches give it stunning beauty and a breathtaking view making it undoubtedly one of the wonders of the world as said by some of the tourists.
The capital of the Maldives is Male. It is a small, dynamic and vibrant city with more than 100,000 inhabitants and important state facilities. Other islands depend on the capital for financial activity in all their business, unlike the past, where some were trading directly with Indians and Sri Lankans without any contact with the capital city and the government of the Maldives
The capital is currently a financial crossroads for the people of the islands, tourists and visitors, where all depend on the business, social, economic, educational and health, as the main contact center in the outside world, where there are some embassies such as the Embassy of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and China in addition to the presence of some consulates such as the Consulate of Denmark, Germany, Turkey And Britain.
Male is traditionally divided into four districts: – Male, Hulu-male, Hulu-Ley, and Willin-Gili. There are about 30 mosques, the oldest of which is the Friday mosque, which was built in 1675. The most recent is the mosque of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, the largest of which is the mosque in the Islamic Center, which can accommodate more than ten thousand worshipers at the same time. This mosque was named after the national Warrior, Sultan Mohammed Tkfaran the Great, who saved the people from the clutches of Portuguese colonialism.
